Quality Enhancement Plan

Quality Purpose

The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) requires that its member institutions devise a Quality Enhancement Plan in order to be reaffirmed for accreditation at the institution's decennial review. A Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a document created by an institution that recognizes keys issues identified by institutional assessment which focuses on student learning outcomes, or the environment supporting student learning all of which must be aimed at accomplishing the institution's mission. The institution must prove its capability to initiate, implement and complete the QEP.

The Florida State University Quality Enhancement Plan must be ready for full implementation in 2014, and must include broad-based involvement of university constituencies in its development and execution. The Plan must include both a means of assessing its progress and offer evidence that the university has the capability of realizing its goals.

The Plan will subject to review by a SACS on-site reaffirmation committee. While it is a required element of the reaffirmation process, the Quality Enhancement Plan is also a unique opportunity to create a focused campus effort addressing an important university issue. The problem should energize the faculty, address student learning and command the allocation or reallocation of resources sufficient for its initiation and completion.
